Implementation of laser-assisted protocols in treating drug-induced gingival hyperplasia provide a wide array of advantages over the standard procedures!

Prof. Tanev et al. present a case of a 57-year-old, female patient diagnosed with drug-induced gingival hyperplasia.

The advantages of the LiteTouch™ Er:YAG Dental Laser, assisting in this case, as described in the article are:

  • In soft tissue surgery – Er:YAG laser provide high cutting efficacy with minimal to no thermal damage to the tissue, improved healing and better post-op comfort for the patient
  • Using non-contact mode along with water cooling, improves the view field of the operator
  • Gingivolpasty is performed in a non-contact, minimally invasive manner, with no thermal or mechanical trauma to the soft tissue. The achieved contour is much more delicate and provides faster healing.
  • Er:YAG Lasers are the only system suitable for hard tissue preparation – due to their water molecule absorption peak
  • Er:YAG-laser assisted tooth preparation is minimally invasive, non-contact process providing no smear layer on the hard tooth structure, this improving the adhesive protocol of obturation.
